Nate the Great

A few months ago, I blogged about Nate Berkus and his upcoming decor line at Target, well the time is finally here and his line launches tomorrow!  We've seen bits and pieces of it and I'm so excited to see more.

I'm really loving brass accessories, here's a lamp I'm especially in love with from the collection.

Not only does Nate have a decor line launching at Target, he has a brand new book called "The Things That Matter".  I'm just dying to get my hands on this book.  I heard it's a design book you actually want to read and not one you get for the beautiful pictures.  He goes into detail about his life and the things that have influenced his design style.

Recently, his Manhattan apartment was featured in Architectural Digest.

I love how some of the books are horizontal in the bookcase.

 The family room before.

 The family room after.

The living room, I'm loving the brass accessories in this room.

 The kitchen before.

The kitchen after.  This is my favorite room, I love the black high gloss cabinets along with the subway tile back splash.  The brass handles on the cabinets look great with the black.

In this room Nate masked the low windows with high blinds and long curtains, what a genius idea to make the windows look bigger.

Working For The Weekend

Weekends.....I love them!  I can't help it, but I'm always thinking about the upcoming weekend, that's probably why I love the 80's song "Working For The Weekend" so much!  I like my job, but I do love a few days off from the demands of a daily schedule, although our weekends get busy with errands and trying to catch up on life.  That's why I love little weekend getaways.  It's great to leave town and get out of the rut and the monotony of the week.  I always come back feeling refreshed and ready to take on new challenges.

A few weeks ago I got an email from Everlane, a new company that sells t-shirts and other wardrobe basics, advertising that their weekender bags are back in stock.  I did notice that the first round of bags sold out fast and I'm glad to hear they have more.  I just love the classic style of these bags and of course it got me thinking of the weekend!

Here is the blue and gray bag and the olive and orange bag, there are some other great colors on the website.  These are the women's bags, but I think they look masculine enough for guys to use too.

I started searching for some other weekend bags and I found a few that I really like.  Now we just need to plan that weekend trip.

Celebrity Homes: Brooke Shields

I've always loved seeing celebrity homes in magazines, who doesn't love to see how the rich and famous live?  I remember seeing Brooke Shields' Manhattan townhouse featured in Architectural Digest earlier this year and I loved it.  She collaborated with designer David Flint Wood.  Sometimes I'll see a celebrity's house and only love a couple of rooms, but with Brooke Shields' home, I love every single room.

I'm a huge fan of gray walls, this paint is Benjamin Moore's Chelsea Gray.  I'm also loving the chairs and the lucite based coffee table with the glass top.

The white trim with the gray is such a classic look.

The Louis Vuitton trunk is to die for.  I'm also loving the color palette of the gold chairs with the gray walls along with the animal print rug.

John Robshaw linens in the master bedroom.

The rolling shoe rack is a wonderful idea along with the library ladder.

I would love to relax in this bath tub with a good book.

This guest room is so inviting.  The wall color is Benjamin Moore's Grizzly Bear Brown.

This round table is perfect for the space in this dining room and I like the symmetry of the lucite lamps on the buffet.

A fireplace in the kitchen, how wonderful would that be?  I'm also loving the chandeliers along with the topiaries that give a pop of green color.

Brooke and her cute girls.

Storage cabinets in the family room, a great use of space.

A drawing by Keith Haring, it was used to wrap a present for Brooke and she framed it.

I'm loving the light fixture in the foyer and the dark wood floors.

I'm a huge fan of the green along with the gray walls and white trim in Brooke's study.

Classic Chesterfields

I keep thinking we need to get a new sofa and I'm not sure what style to get.  I've been seeing a lot of Chesterfield Sofas lately and I love the look of them.  It's such a classic piece that will work with modern and traditional design.
